The day the third Beatle died, I cried a tear for the man who would create no more
His life was so different, the quietest lad, this fourth of the fabulous four
I watched and I listened to the day long tributes, of his contribution to art
But the fact still remained, a coldness crept in, George and his light had gone dark
Then I heard that his friends were planning a concert to fill up the Royal Albert Hall
Eric Clapton, Billy Preston, Jules Holland and more, the crowd would be packed to the walls
The naughtiest chords would fill the air as Jeff Lynne and Ravi Shankar both play
With McCartney and Ringo together again, Monty Python’s Lumber Jacks gay
Tom Petty, Albert Lee and with young Dhani Harrison looking eerily like his old dad
Tom Hanks even showed, Marc Mann and Ray Cooper how to smile when you’re really quite sad
The show must go on, even George would have said, so his life’s work unfolded before us
So with sitars and cymbals, guitars and the drum, Albert Hall was filled with the chorus
But the close of the show was a fitting end, meant to lift us from being so down
Ukulele in hand, an old song by the band with lead vocals from good old Joe Brown
George loved the Uke, and it’s simple four strings and Joe is a master it seems
For with tears in all eyes, he played for his friend, “I’ll See You In My Dreams”
